----------------------------------------
INFORMATION
-----------
Myth Fixer is a simple utility for Windows that removes the MacBinary header present on
many Macintosh film and saved game files used with the game Myth, from Bungie Software.
This 128 byte header makes it impossible for these files to be read by the PC version of
Myth.
In addition, Myth Fixer displays relevant information for any film or saved game file.
Myth Fixer can also be used to remove the MacBinary header from any Macintosh file, not
just Myth files.
System requirements:
IBM compatible PC
Windows '95 or Windows NT 4.0 and above
Film or saved game files for conversion
Myth Fixer is distributed as Freeware.
FEATURES
--------
- Converts both film and saved games to readable PC format.
- Also converts any MacBinary file to readable PC format.
- Displays detailed information on Myth files:
* Name
* MacBinary Name
* Map
* Netgame Type
* Number of Players
* Difficulty Level
* Teams
* Veterans
* Player Names
- Replaces extended characters in player names with dashes. This is for display
purposes only, it does not affect the file itself.
GENERAL USAGE
-------------
OPENING A FILE
When the program first loads, you will be presented with a blank "Input" field and an
"Open..." button. Click "Open..." to load in a file for conversion.
If upon opening a file, the "Convert" button is disabled, this means that the file does
not contain a MacBinary header and cannot be converted.
THE OUTPUT FILE
Once a proper file is loaded, the "Output" field will contain the name of the file that
will be fixed and written to disk. By default, "-f" is appended to the output name to
indicate a fixed file. This name can be changed to whatever you want as long as it does
not exceed Myth's 31 character file limit.
EXTENDED CHARACTERS
If the file you opened contains player names with extended characters (characters that
are not A-Z, 0-9, or punctuation), these characters will be viewed as dashes. This is for
viewing purposes only and will not affect the written file.
By default, a warning will come up if you open a file with extended characters. This can
be permanently disabled by unchecking "Character Warning" in the main window.
CONVERSION
Clicking the "Convert" button will remove the MacBinary header from the Input file and
write it to disk in the current directory with the file name specified.
If there are any problems with the conversion, a message box will come up explaining the
error.
